Helloo!! Random post happening…

Just thought I would let you all know that I may not post anything for a couple of weeks (depending on my wifi situation) because I’m doing something kinda random, but something I have wanted to do for years and years…I’m going to South Africa to volunteer at a monkey sanctuary for a couple of weeks with my sister. We have been talking about doing voluntary work for so long, because it will be such an enriching experience and something totally different. We talked about volunteering in schools, or even an orphanage somewhere, but the truth is we aren’t really good with kids. I personally feel really awkward around little people… I don’t know how to act around them, so the children thing went out the window… And that’s when we thought of monkeys

You know when you kinda get to the stage where you just feel a bit like “hmm, I need to do something inspirational with my life”, something new and exciting? That happened to us, and when we properly discussed it on the phone it was booked within 12 hours…Life is too short to not get involved with monkeys! We booked with original volunteers

Hiya!

As far as I’m aware, we will be giving the monkeys affection, feeding them, monitoring them / giving them medication if necessary and cleaning out their wee enclosures. I know they have the marmosets (the wee guy pictured above) which I love and I might want to take home with me…I’m really excited, can’t believe we are actually doing it! I will blog when I’m back with all of my photos and monkey banter! And if I have wifi I will upload a wee monkey pic if I can…We will be at the monkey sanctuary for 7 days and then spend 3 days in Cape town. I have never been to Africa before so this is going to be really amazing
